Ian, our Senior Partner, was educated at Glasgow Academy and University of Strathclyde before joining Jas Campbell & Co. as an apprentice.

Ian has always had a strong interest in the law and was very quickly promoted up the ranks to become a partner of Jas Campbell & Co. in 1990. He became the sole partner in 2003 after the retiral of David Hyndman.

Ian has worked in the local area for many years and has built up a strong client base over the years; as a local businessman himself Ian is well placed to understand the nuances of the local market as well as the wider business community. Ian’s particular specialities are complex conveyancing and property matters, agricultural law including renewable energy, commercial and residential property and in particular advising business clients. He also has a strong private client background and in depth knowledge in this area and advises on all private client issues including succession planning, wealth management and inheritance matters. Ian is also a Notary Public and a Writer to the Signet.

Ian is a member of the Agricultural Law Association and the Anglo French Lawyers Association. He is also a Director of the Fairlie Community Trust, Treasurer of Fairlie Community Council, a legal advisor to the West Kilbride Initiative and also the West Kilbride Community Association.

Ian is also the Vice President of Ardrossan Academicals RFC, a member of Birkmyre RFC and a member of Glasgow Academicals.

Ian is mainly based at our Saltcoats office however is available for consultation at any of our offices by appointment.
